28 Days Later... (2002)

From Summa Bergania

A good, almost great, movie. Conceptually you have to grant the moviemakers some leniency on the nature of the disease (incubates in 10 seconds? infected only seek out non-infecteds?), but other than that, the plot flows very intensely and realistically. Most interesting of all is the conflict between sheer Darwinian ethics (survival is all that matters) and the more superfluous aspects of human ethics (saving a little girl's life even though she might slow us down)... and how you become convinced that there is more to our morality than mere survival, even in the most harsh and hostile environment.

The only thing that keeps it a 3-star rather than a 4 for me is that the film is so dark, sharp, and depressing that I would be happy waiting a good long time before seeing it again.
