Hey David,
So my "angle" in asking all these questions is just that Easter made me wonder how you verify the resurrection to your own philosophical liking. I mean, you do realize that your proofs are themselves dependent on Scripture for their own validity... and Scripture is the one thing you aren't sure is fully inspired by God. So do you just say that all the Scriptures that have to do with prophecy and resurrection and the apostles' zeal for the faith are inspired, but the rest might not be? Or do you say that the Scriptures might be "inspired enough" to give "certainty beyond a reasonable doubt," but not inspired enough to be the breathed-out word of God? I'm curious as to how you use prophecy and the Gospels to prove the resurrection but then question the divine authority of the very texts you used to prove the resurrection.
To paraphrase a notorious friend of mine,
"What I want to know is if the resurrection is objectively true and inerrant. I want a reason that exists outside of you and me that will not fade away when we die. I want the deductive argument that leads to the sure conclusion so that I may store this piece of information away and never doubt it."
When it comes to the resurrection, can you offer that to me, without relying on the inerrancy of Scripture?
Bob
