Hi Pastor Bob,

I hope you didn't think that I fell off the face of the earth. I'm still here. The thing was that just after your last letter the relationship with the girl I am dating took a big skid... we took a two-and-a-half week "break," which (in my opinion) is about the most aggravating thing that can happen to a guy. I'd rather have a break-up than a break, because at least you know how to move on!

Anyway, not only was it hard to put my mind to the task of abstract thinking, but I would have felt bad writing against the Bible's inspiration when I was relying on it at the time for so much comfort. I also relied on the writings of CS Lewis for as much, if not more, comfort.

Now the break is over, and the relationship is different, but intact. Are you still interested in pursuing this discussion? I think I could find some time to check out the part of the book you suggested earlier.

Hope things are going well in Omaha. I'm telling my friends to vote for John this November.

Your friend,

David

"For infinite happiness," said the Spirit. "You can step out into it at any moment..."
