Stoicism? Not fun enough. While I enjoy peace and quiet, I still feel a need for occasional good blow-ups, exuberant declarations of triumph and passion, and frenetic busy-ness. It is not so much that my job weighs down on me; I rather like the stress, and like to think I thrive on it. (If I am a burned-out shell of a man in five years, I will perhaps revise my attitude!)

By the way, something for sophists and stoics alike to look forward to: my NCA "Caring for Self and Others" committee has decided that February will be diversity month. I do not yet know what sort of programming is being planned, but I plan to be too happily distracted by Mundt and NFLs to participae in any meaningful way. At most, I will foment dissent among the children and post the occasional anti-diversity poster on my door (all for the cause of promoting diversity of viewpoints, of course).
